THE LOCATION

Sombrilla Springs Events and Escapes - "a one-of-a-kind mountain destination for glamping, events and weddings located just outside beautiful Pagosa Spring, Colorado. Our centerpiece — a dairy barn originally built in 1932, doubles as our glamping hub and event venue. We initially restored it ourselves — adding modern amenities while retaining its rustic charm. THEIR PLANNING PACKAGE

The couple selected our Partial Planning Package, a thoughtfully tailored experience designed for those who want expert guidance while remaining hands-on throughout the planning process. Peaks and Dreams provided comprehensive support with event design, rental selections, trusted vendor recommendations, floor plan development, and seamless wedding day coordination. This package offered the perfect balance—professional expertise in the areas that mattered most, while allowing the couple the flexibility to personalize their planning journey and thoughtfully manage their investment. The result was a celebration that felt effortless, beautifully curated, and uniquely their own.

BEHIND THE DESIGN

Designed to host 120 guests, the reception was centered beneath a stunning sailcloth tent from Lucky Penny Events & Rentals, creating an atmosphere that felt both intimate and refined. Overhead, strands of crisp white café lights cast a warm, romantic glow, while woven wicker pendants in an array of shapes and sizes added texture and natural elegance. Thoughtfully placed floral accents in soft pinks, vibrant oranges, and golden yellows echoed the couple's sunset-inspired palette, bringing warmth, depth, and effortless sophistication to the space.

Tablescape Details

The reception design was a seamless blend of organic textures and refined elegance. Sixty-inch round tables were dressed in Honeysuckle Meadow linen tablecloths, while custom coordinating runners adorned the eight-foot farm tables, creating a cohesive and inviting tablescape. Brown cross-back chairs from Mountain Peak Rentals completed the warm, timeless aesthetic.

Each place setting was intentionally layered with woven wicker chargers, cotton stoneware dinner plates, and honeysuckle green linen napkins. Enlarged wine and water goblets added an elevated touch, while custom-designed menus and polished flatware were elegantly tucked into each napkin, creating a personalized welcome for every guest.

Lush floral arrangements by Adela Flora served as the heart of each table, overflowing with soft blush, vibrant magenta, and warm orange blooms that beautifully reflected the couple's color palette. Tall honeysuckle taper candles, displayed in clear glass candlesticks with elegant hurricane sleeves, added height, warmth, and a romantic glow as the evening unfolded.

KEY MOMENTS

The brides began their wedding day together on a beautiful Saturday morning in late June, surrounded by their closest friends and family in the bridal suite. As laughter filled the room, they were treated to a relaxing morning of light refreshments, celebratory drinks, and meaningful moments before the festivities began. Hair styling by Trisha Leewitt and professional makeup services ensured each bride looked and felt their absolute best, setting the tone for an elegant day filled with love, joy, and unforgettable memories.

First Look

Although the brides spent the morning getting ready together, they wanted to preserve the excitement and emotion of seeing one another fully dressed for the very first time. They each stepped into their gowns separately before sharing an intimate first look just moments before the ceremony—a quiet, heartfelt pause amidst the anticipation of the day.

Following their first look, the brides slipped upstairs to the loft of the barn, hidden from view, where they shared a private moment watching their loved ones arrive. From above, they delighted in seeing guests discover the personalized notes waiting for each guest —heartfelt messages of gratitude that expressed just how much their presence meant. It was a meaningful reminder that every detail of the celebration had been thoughtfully curated to make each guest feel welcomed, appreciated, and part of their love story.

The Ceremony - Exchanging Vows

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the San Juan Mountains, the ceremony embraced the beauty of its natural surroundings while thoughtfully elevating every guest's experience. Adela Flora's artistry extended far beyond the reception tables, with breathtaking floral installations adorning a stunning floral arbor, framing the couple as they exchanged their vows, its lush blooms echoing the celebration. Their impeccable floral design tied every element together, creating a cohesive atmosphere that was both vibrant and effortlessly sophisticated. Wooden ceremony benches were adorned with cozy blankets and luxurious sheepskins, offering guests both comfort and warmth while adding an inviting, mountain-inspired touch to the design.

As the ceremony began, anticipation filled the air. Each bride made a memorable entrance through the grand barn doors before meeting one another at the altar beneath the floral arbor. Officiant Margie Quinn led the ceremony with warmth, heartfelt sincerity, and moments of joyful humor, creating a ceremony that felt deeply personal and authentically reflective of the couple's love story. Surrounded by family, friends, and sweeping mountain views, the brides exchanged their vows and sealed the beginning of their next chapter with a kiss—a moment as timeless as the landscape that surrounded them.

The Celebration

Following the ceremony, guests gathered for an elegant cocktail hour featuring a thoughtfully curated selection of passed hors d'oeuvres by Et Voilà Catering. The seasonal menu included grilled Palisade peaches wrapped in prosciutto with a balsamic reduction, balsamic-glazed figs topped with whipped goat cheese on crostini, Vietnamese pork skewers with cucumber ribbon and sriracha dipping sauce, and refreshing gazpacho shooters. An open bar by Thirsty Rooster Trailer Bar complemented the culinary experience, serving handcrafted cocktails, fine wines, and refreshing beverages as guests mingled and celebrated beneath the Colorado sky.

Throughout every meaningful moment—from the quiet anticipation before the ceremony to the joyful energy of cocktail hour and the celebration that followed—Kierstan Renner of Wild Crafted Photography artfully documented the day with an eye for authentic emotion, timeless details, and the genuine connections that made this wedding so unforgettable.

THE RECEPTION

As guests found their seats beneath the glow of the sailcloth tent, the reception began with one of the evening's most heartfelt moments—the brides' first dance. Accompanied by the rich, live sounds of an eight-piece band from Starkey Entertainment of Denver, Colorado, they shared their first dance as newlyweds, setting the tone for an evening filled with celebration, connection, and unforgettable memories.

Following a heartfelt blessing, guests enjoyed an exceptional family-style dinner thoughtfully prepared by Et Voilà Catering. The meal began with a fresh local spring mix salad featuring white balsamic dressing, heirloom summer tomatoes, creamy burrata, Kalamata olives, and rosemary-sourdough croutons, accompanied by artisan breads served with olive oil and rosemary balsamic reduction.

The main course celebrated the flavors of the season with chili-lime glazed grilled salmon topped with vibrant summer corn salsa and expertly grilled beef tri-tip served with fresh chimichurri. The entrées were complemented by comforting buttermilk mashed potatoes with fresh scallions, roasted carrots, and roasted fennel and shallots finished with fragrant spices and fresh cilantro. Every course reflected the couple's desire to provide an elevated dining experience that felt both refined and welcoming.

The dessert display was equally memorable - A beautiful two-tier raspberry lemon cake from Pagosa Baking Company served as the centerpiece of the evening's sweet offerings. Later in the celebration, guests were surprised with a beloved family favorite flown in from Nashville, Tennessee—the renowned Firefly Cake by Dessert Designs. Featuring layers of rich chocolate truffle cake and sour cream pound cake enveloped in the bakery's signature caramel icing, the dessert quickly became one of the night's most talked-about indulgences.

As the evening unfolded, the dance floor remained full beneath the warm glow of café lights as Starkey Entertainment kept guests celebrating late into the night. Laughter echoed through the tent, heartfelt embraces were shared, and every song invited another unforgettable memory. The celebration concluded with an exuberant send-off as shimmering silver streamers filled the night sky and the brides ran hand in hand toward their next chapter together—a joyful ending to a day that was as intentional, elegant, and unforgettable as the love story it celebrated.
